School Initiative

About Families believes that the school system plays an integral role in a child’s development. For this reason, we have established professional partnerships with several school districts, including Portsmouth, West Warwick, North Kingstown, and Woonsocket. Through these partnerships, About Families has been able to provide easier access to services for families already involved, as well as quicker new referrals for those interested. In addition, About Families’ presence in these school departments has allowed staff to compliment the support already being provided to students and families by offering supplemental resource information as needed.

CEDARRS can work with families and schools by:

Increasing family’s access to CEDARR services
Helping families coordinate treatment information from other providers with school staff
Supporting a child’s development by coordinating after school programming to address other needs that may impact academic achievement – resource assistance, housing, mental/behavioral health, medical
